I'm wondering what's going on in the area around "UNITED" and "E PLU." Sort of looks like some sort of corrosion. Same thing above the midpoint of the eagle's back. I also think this may have been polished. I don't know grading on these, but there appears to be some wear on the high points of her hair.

avoid overhead lighting which is causing enough glare to obscure the surfaces. the photos are showing a possibly cleaned coin that may have been a little too much dipped and then lightly polished to counter it.

the area I noted here has the look of what occurs when a coin is polished. the metal seems what I call melted. it occurs from the heat when polishing the coin. look at the high points of the devices in that area to see what I mean. the 21 peace are typically weak but this is not from strike imo as that would be a higher area on the die and should be actually stronger since it would hit the planchet first

AU details (Cleaned/polished)

Too many dark areas to see the surface details clearly.

It's been improperly cleaned and/or polished. Looks to have AU details.

Doesn't look right. I agree with AU detail and altered surfaces. Polished or whizzed.

Sorry for the delay. Had to find a scale with tenths. Posted pictures of results. I compared the weight with the other coins shown.

There's no question it's authentic. It's the condition that is the concern.

the sad part is this was a decent 21 in a higher grade and was ruined by someone's stupidity

It is an outstanding strike for a 21 Peace. I agree it has been polished.

I'd like to hear more about the tissue test as well.
