Can you post pics of the edge of the coin in the affected areas?

Never mind. To me it appears the coin was clamped down on wood by the 2 flattened spots - rim to the lower left of the bust and on GOD. An attempt to cut it above the date by pressure and then sawing at the upper indent at an angle causing the raised edge under TRUST.

Curious how the reverse appears, given what the obverse shows...

Thanks for the extra pics. I cannot make sense of any mint damage, but odd how good the reverse looks as good as it does. Maybe a drill bit on its side and then smoothed and browned over the years of circulation. There is some flattening around the rim too that may have been where it was held when the damage was done. With the weight, definitely loss of metal too. Interesting but as the others have said, I would say PMD.

to the CCF Looks like someone has taken a Dremel tool to it a long time ago, and circulation has smoothed it out.
