Don't despair. There may still be some gems hiding in his collection, especially if it's a "complete" set, or even a complete date set.

Quote: All said, a goodly pile of Morgans is not something to diss--just my opinion. Excellent photos by-the-way. Quote: Don't despair. There may still be some gems hiding in his collection, especially if it's a "complete" set, or even a complete date set. I agree with both comments.

This is a 99 coin set. 1960 Whitman bookshelf albums (3). 1877-1886, 1887-1896, and 1897-1921. Set includes 1878 7/8tf, 1878 7tf, and 1895 proof. The only vacant hole is the 1895 PR. I'll keep em coming.

Great responses here. From Dads inventory sheet; VF35 $85. With a side note, ANACS. There is no label to be found. Would ANACS actually certify this as such? Strange note. So, should these problem coins be removed and replaced? Can any details coins remain yet knocked down a grade when considering value. From my overall examination I am prepared for many "details" replies. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Lets hope the rare 1893S is in your dads inventory. Also the 1879S with 78 reverse carry some premium I think

Quote: Lets hope the rare 1893S is in your dads inventory Funny you should ask that question. Knowing that every hole but one was filled, I checked to see after reading your reply. The hole is filled, BUT!, it's an 1896S! WTH!!!. At 93 years old, his eyesight must have started slipping some time ago. It seems this is going to be a very interesting adventure ahead of me.

Quote: This is a 8/7 long nock reverse, the type that PCGS designates as "weak" on holders Actually this looks like an 8TF short nock. Given the grade and details condition, unlikely that this is a VAM that would affect value. Your pics are excellent—looking forward to seeing the rest of his collection!

VAM 7 would be my guess from the pictures. The nose doesn't appear to be polished open and it is a spiked "A".
