None minted for circulation! I wonder if that is a sign of the times? Banks want us to go cashless. If the banks don't request new coins then the Mint doesn't produce any for circulation. Is that what we are seeing here? If that is the case then I wonder how many of the $2 purple poppy coins were actually distributed for circulation? Going to be really interesting to see when/if anyone here reports seeing those coins actually in circulation. Wondering now if future issues of standard designs will only happen through ballots and at greater than face value prices? Going to get some popcorn...  |

It appears as though there won't be any of the standard traditional 2023 5c 10c 20c 50c or $2 issued into circulation by the RAM. A very unusual development.
SallyG I agree with you and, as you know, the purpose of the RAM is to mint and issue coins for circulation throughout Australia. The RAM's relevance seems to be diminishing as a result of the growing trend towards paying via tap and go, etc, etc.
BTW I don't have a mobile phone......as yet.
crab-eater you probably realise the final mintage figures for 2023 will not appear until the 2025/2026 Annual report is released because the cut off date for the RAM's annual report's mintage figures is June 30th, so the 2023/2024 annual report will only indicate the mintage figures up to June 30th 2022. Production of 2022 coin might have continued from July 1st 2022 onwards and the real final figures for coins minted in 2022 will only be available in the 2024/2025 annual report. This two year lapse in providing final mintage figures has always been the case.
I'm still not convinced about the RAM's stated final mintage figure for the 2021 MoR's $1. 160,000 ? with 70,000 UNC mint sets being produced.
SallyG it seems as though the cashless era is well and truly upon us, but I'm not yet ready to welcome the future.

The mint was probably too busy making Bluey coins in all their forms.  |

It seems that they didn't actually make any. They were waiting for a portrait of the king to be approved, and then when it was - near the end of the year - they only announced the $1 and nothing else.
Plus, it was supposed to have 10 mln mintage, and in one year of checking my change and active noodling, I got less than 10.

Credit where it's due.
The RAM has recently modernised their pages where the mintage figures for each
denomination of standard issue coins is detailed.
It clearly states on this much easier to read site that there weren't any 2023 5c 10c 20c 50c and $2 coins minted in 2023, and 6.209 mlillion $1 MoR's.
Great. The only unusual thing about this is that in previous years, the Final mintage figures for 2023 coins wouldn't have been available until the RAM's 2025/2026 Annual report is released. The RAM's cut off date of mintage figures for inclusion into their Annual reports is the 30th June. Coins usually continue to be minted after the 30th June and the Real final mintage figure for eg. 2024 won't be available until the 2026/2027 Annual report.

'Lunch Kit' would be the prefered set to get your gloved hands on.   2022/2023 Annual report states only 7102 kits issued. $250 on ebay atm.
