I wish album makers wouldn't even put that hole in their books. I'll never have a 1909-S VDB due to the price and not wanting a slick, but it's at least legit. That's what the copper Mint Set tokens are for, right? But, the 1922 plain is an error, and since I'm not really an error collector, that eases my mind about not being able to have one, heh! Another Mint token hole.

Quote: It's a legitimate variety - not an error coin. FWIW, I agree 100%. Multiple coins were struck that were exactly the same, which creates the variety status. Removing the MM happened while intentionally polishing the die.

I agree it is a variety and not an error, but I also wish Dansco had skipped that hole like they did for the "popular" varieties found in some other albums.

 But really you can find a weak D variety for around the same cost as a 09S or a 31S
