In the first photo, I am not sure what that is. Doesn't look like Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling. I don't want to call it a DDR right away either.

At first I was going to say Die Deterioration Doubling. The snake looks pretty melty, and the die seems worn. However, then I saw the doubling lines on the rays to the left. I looked through the PCGS image catalog and didn't find any similar coins. Obviously there are no DDR listed on Wexler or VV for 1979.

I'm not really sure what is happening there. Maybe someone like atrox or Tanner Scott can shed some light. It's definitely an interesting mystery, you had a good eye to spot that one.

Pretty cool looking. Clad coins are tough for me when it comes to hub doubling. I look forward to seeing the outcome of this one. Once again, nice pics.

I believe everything you show in your photos looks to be MDD (machine damaged doubling), shelf like. You have the half dollar in hand and should be able to see that.

Honestly, it might also just be the cloth of the EPU banner in its beak. I've always thought of it as the snake of tyranny or some other suitably militant symbol.

Thank you for the reply atrox001! Thats right, it may not be DD, but I'm not sure that it is MD either because what I see look different to MD.

The image below with the color arrow show MD, but where the white arrow is pointing look very different to MD, is not flattered or reduced as MD usually is.

I will keep it anyway because it look pretty cool to me

The fact that the doubling seems to spread out from the center in all directions makes me think it's not a doubled die whereas if it was just spread north, south, east, or west I would be more curious.
