I PROMISE THEY ARE#128557;#128557;#128557; the first pics were that bad the lighting and angling made a crazy difference I can take more pics if needed. you can see the line still infront of her face but I just focused more on the date rather than the detail of the coin that pic.

I agree that the first set of pictures and the second set provided do not appear to show the same coin. Apart from the spacing between the top serif and the center point of the coin, look at the dentils below the 3 in the date. In the second coin shown in the right, the dentils have wide spaces between them unlike the first coin you showed on the left. Not really sure what is going on here.

It is the same coin guys. just better pics lets calm down I'm sending it to pcgs but as I was submitting the coin it said I needed a value for this coin so idk what to value it I was seeing if you guys also thought it could be ms 64 instead of taking it to a coin shop and if it is then I pay 150 for grading if not id pay 70 with a chance of paying 1% of coin value if it grades over 63. I think you can clearly tell that its because of angle and lighting and from what ive see online it makes a all the difference in how the coin looks. Should I just use express service level? And I would like to thank you all for the input.

I don't think it has a shot at 64 with that obverse. I'd bet on a MS62.

That ding or scrape in front of the nose is deep. No way this coin gets an MS64 due to that and the other chatter. Might be deep enough to throw a details on it. MS62 by the pics I see.

Okay I really appreciate the input guys its very helpful, so lets say ms-62 63 max should I use express or special issues service level?

No reason to pop for anything more than standard service. Express is usually reserved for big money coins or urgent situations. I would just go with the standard Gold Shield/RFID with TrueView.

Sorry late to the party....I have a love hate relationship with gold coins, I love to collect them, hate to grade them from photos. That being said, I'm seeing this coin at
MS-61...maybe 62 for a Friday coin.

Although the reverse is nice, the obverse left field and the face are pretty banged up. I'd say MS-61, possibly 62 at most.

The closed 3 1873 is scarce and valuable in mint state, while the open 3 variety is about the most common Type 2 double eagle. If this were the closed 3 variety perhaps certification would make sense.

Assuming the first obverse photo is at all accurate, this coin has severe marks. The two crossed scratches in front of the face look like graffiti. Based on my experience sending gold coins to PCGS I can't see them giving this coin a pass.

I'm seeing MS detail, damaged, scratches, and/or graffiti.
