There isn't a complete LIBERTY, normally that is required for a F-12.
But, VG-10 seems to be too low.

Yes, I was thinking that it is not full "Liberty" as well, which would technically give it a VG, but the reverse is really nice and the coin has great overall eye appeal. I think it would get a F12-15.

I think I see pieces of all the letters in LIBERTY, and the ANA standard is for all the letters to be "weak but visible," so that's why I voted Fine.

Thank you all for your help. This being a key date is this worth slabbing?

Slabbing coins simplifies selling them, but there's not much advantage otherwise.
Everyone has different cutoff points for the value at which they advise slabbing, but paying the fees to grade a coin worth no more than $100 (like this one) is probably not a wise financial decision.

I agree with those who said F12. I would not slab this coin. It's clearly authentic and worth about $90.
Hang on to it!

Worth more than $90, these things sell for CRAZY prices on ebay. You can expect easily $150 for it.

I've noticed that there are many better-date coins which are costly in lower grades but the price does not increase very quickly as you go up the grade scale. By the time you get up to mint state they aren't all that much more expensive than common-date examples. Some of the Carson City Morgan dollars fall into this category, as does the 1913-S dime. When I made up my mind to buy one I was able to find this PCGS-certified coin graded MS-64. At $850 it was about 5X the cost of a VF example and less than double the price of a choice AU. I'm not sure my strategy is correct but I'm glad now that I held out for the higher-grade coin.

Jaobler I agree with your comments, very astute.
And that '13 S is very pretty, along with the clashed die (on the reverse).
A definite 'thumbs up'.

Buying the best coin you can afford and following the Optimal Collecting Grade philosophy made that MS64 a good buy at $850.

Hi Jaobler Is that mint mark maybe inverted on your beautiful dime?

wheezydog: Nah, not inverted. If you look at the S, the top right is slightly smaller than the bottom left.
But, a nice thought.
