Just a theory here maybe nothing left in PCGS break room but Sanka Instant Decaf on a Monday in 1992 G-6? now that's a green tomato! GC's sexed up image shows smidgen of green blue on obverse rim 11:00 was relieved to examine coin in hand, no sign of PVC or corrosion looks stable imo. Old girls been around sold for $804 ebay in June and GC Sept 2025. Dubiousness of being auction record G6 at GC $704 after fees. I'm pleased with the coin nothing fancy just a undergraded x2 1877 i.m.o. Two really nice VG-8's and a VG10 sold also was surprised this one went at $626.

VG-10, looks like this one needs a break out and resubmit.

Thanks for commenting. Have been lurking for a VG several months lots available many straight graded coins just downright ugly or over graded over priced imo. CACG has seemed to put to rest the notion of F-12 5 letter sliders followed by ANACS the last 4-5 years. GC had a smoker ANACS VG10 back in June I missed out on that coin looks F12+ I'm high on ANACS standards last 3 years yay ANACS. Yeoman's 27th edition 1970 VG $65 1992 45th $250 looks like the 1877 keeps up and beats inflation. GoldEagle yes I'm going to see what CAC thinks try for a green bean first CAC's actions will speak loud and clear no illusions of a gold bean but I'll tell ya it crossed my mind

I see the presence of letters in the headband. That normally qualifies as Fine 12 or 15.

very odd bird this one. I have no doubt the strike on both sides is weak. just look at the sharpness of the letters, date, right obv denticles and shield. I cant see this coin as G however, it comes down to how much is wear and how much is strike. imo the coin has some details that exhibit a VF coin. I wouldn't net it out any less than F12 or even as high as F15. I think the issue is if you ever looked at selling. considering a bean would help solidify it

Around what years did PCGS rate this coin? It appears to be one of their older labels...

Get it to CAC and hope for a gold sticker. I would personally keep it in the OGH and not resubmit it.

It's staying in the OGH for sure CAC bean can look at it's now you see it now you don't Liberty and decide. Yes that's a good point about strike weakness I didn't even consider that my head is so geared towards Barber coinage I overlooked that fundamental. My hypothesis is slightly conspiratorial its A. got an issue a flash in pan look but underlying issue or B. Simply a way undergraded attractive example that went low at GC and I got a bargain. Will get this off to a green bean dealer soon and let everyone know what CAC thinks when it comes back.
