grading? no you won't get a grade high enough to warrant the cost.

Again, I've seen several in ANACS holders that have the no FG label, yet I can still slightly see the FG once zoomed in on the picture. I've heard others opinions as well and I've had several agree with me. So, if I do grade it, I will send it to ANACS. I appreciate you guys and your input!

I think your first investment before coin grading should be a $10 phone scope so we can help you with your coin questions.

& Because these are cherrypickers and worth a whole lot more than $10 and although I don't know the exact value just yet, it's worth grading from what I've been told by my most experienced friends on Facebook.

Wow, Facebook is the absolute worst place to listen to people. It's terrible.
This coin is not worth grading. Perios. I don't care what the FB people are telling you.

And I'll stop asking this forum questions because I have several PCGS dealers that agree with me. I could give you names but I don't think it'll do y'all any good. Thanks!

Do yourselves a favor and go to ebay, look at 1972 D no FG Kennedy half dollars that's been Graded by ANACS, zoom in on the back and see if you can't slightly see the initials...

GTone, some of the people you are dismissing here have bought and sold thousands of dollars worth of variety coins just this year. I would take their advice. At the very least, you should do more learning, because there is no rush to grade any coin.
There are two separate issues here. One is whether this coin is the 1972-D 50¢ FS-901 No FG variety. Your pictures are insufficient to reach a conclusion there. The second problem is that grading that FS-901 is only profitable if your coin will receive a straight grade. Given the amount of damage on the obverse, I think that it would end up in a Details holder. If you want the grading experience and don't care if the coin has any resale value, then by all means, proceed.

I never disputed that. I, and others are just trying to tell you the coin is not worth grading, even if it gets the designation.

Ok, that I understand, thank you! I was just thinking that later on down the road when I might sell it, that it would be easier to sell and that it would also keep it well preserved until that day. I suppose for now, I'll just keep it safe and I still might submit in a few more years. Thanks again everyone!

I can see where one could be offended by some of the responses to your question, however, I think it could be attributed to how different ppl will derive different meanings from reading the same sentence, depending on where you place emphasis, voice inflection, etc. I had the same experience when I first joined the forum, but I think you will eventually realize that you are likely not going to find better answers to your coin questions, than you'll find on this forum! Lots of great, experienced, knowledgeable and quite generous members here G Tone! A green coin collector can learn a lot from the information on this site, so I'd rethink the whole "ban" on not asking questions in the future! I'd also encourage you to utilize that search bar, then just take a gander at some of these member's collections you see highlighted under some of the members comments! I'm certainly glad I didn't bail on the forum, which I was really close on more than one occasion, in the beginning, before realizing the responses to my questions were accurate, even though they may have given me a case of the red bumm!! Hang in there, there's so much to learn!!

GTone, cheerypicking is great, finding varieties and errors is great, HOWEVER, value is more often then not a reflection of a coin's condition. Is it uncirculated or circulated? What condition/grade is the coin? An uncirculated choice or Gem (MS63-65) 1972D with no FG is indeed a nice pickup and valuable, (maybe even as high as $1,000). AU 53-58, perhaps $50-$150). But a heavily circulated coin, as is yours, does not have much of a premium.
It is always important to recognize that most of the time, a coin's rarity needs to be balanced by its condition or condition rarity and collector interest.
