This is beyond my expertise, but I wanted to post something so that you knew someone was watching! I am sure the big-guns are busy. But give them a few hours; they will show up!

I'm surprised Thad has not jumped in on this one yet. I'm interested to see what others think as well.

I am far from an expert, but I THINK the ty of liberty may be something. but I can't tell anything from the rest. The top of the 4 may be a master hub defect, I remember reading about it somewhere and in Charles's book, "looking through lincoln cents" he shows an image of a 41 d rpm where the 4 looks the same as yours. Just remember I have often been wrong and will surely be again.

Thank you cpfull, this is a p mint mark so that makes this coin so weird. I did see that there is a 1941p DDO type 1 and 2 but it does not match either. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN IDEA?

twangator, I don't see anything that would lead me to believe there is and doubling. I see post mint damage, Die Deterioration and probably Machine Doubling but wait until coppercoins, coop or some of the others look at it. I don't see anything that looks like device spread or separation. Jim

Thank you to all. I guess this is not what I thought it was (a doubled die).

Hello, I guess I'm desperate now because I cant find and answer to this coin. I have been going around in circles triying to find out what this is. So I'm triying to call out to Badthad, copper coins or Coop, if anyone knows where they are at send them my way, I would love to hear what they think about this. Thanx.

This needs to be on the 'Variety and Error' section.

I agree with Gary on this one. Looks like Machine Doubling on the TY. Certain areas of a Machine Doubling happen differently from coin to coin. On a doubled die, something is doubled. If you note the size of the devices to another normal coin, they are the same size and sometimes thinner than normal. On a doubled die the spread makes the devices wider/taller/doubled. So being also circulated that beats a coin up and makes the devices look wider, so you have to consider how it was doubled. Hub doubled, machine doubled or made wider from circulation. The first one is the one with a premium. Check out the tag below on coppercoins and note the affect the hub doubling makes on those doubled dies. http://coppercoins.com/diesearch.ph...pe=do&page=0There are over 30 different ones to look at.

Yes, unfortunately Machine Doubling. There's no notching at the corners of the TY, and the doubling doesn't affect any other part of the coin (not that it really matters, but there is a doubled die that affects the 'ty' and the '19' of the date). But this one is just a normal coin with some Machine Doubling.
