ichirensha - The engraved pictures on the 1, 5 and 10 dollars depict the life during the 1920s and earlier. Water Buffalo working in the farm, attap ( wooden houses on stilt )houses and the life in the kampong ( Malay village ). You actually get to see these attap houses in the countryside of Malaysia. You can't see them in Singapore anymore. During that time, Malayan tiger were roaming freely in Singapore. The last one I think was shot in 1928 in Singapore. There was an old photograph with the dead tiger and the hunters. There are still wild tigers in the Malaysia protected forest area. The coming Chinese lunar new year is the year of the tiger. The $5 should be a good representation of the Year of Tiger.

My current favourites are the new $100 and $200 peso commemorative Mexican notes. They're pretty..

And here's mine! :D Too bad the nextgen of Swiss notes that were coming out this year is delayed until 2012 :( But I heard it's going to be printed on Durasafe paper/polymer!

Thanks for the link wd1040 to the Mexican notes. The 100 pesos is really impressive. I've always been a sucker for steam trains!

The Canadian $50 note looks great. I've always liked the 1988 Australian $10 - Not only is it good looking it was important as the first polymer note. Its a shame that since then the Aussie notes have become a little on the bright side.

wd1040: what is this error on the $100 you speak of? I'll get pics up later. I have to borrow a camera.

Well I got them in Mexico, nice and crispy (except for one that was given to me from a wallet). After looking at mine closer I can see the error on both of my notes (both are series A with B&D serial#s). They're hilarious! Almost as funny as the "In God We Rust" error. I will translate the error. Instead of saying, "Elective Suffrage and No Re-election", it reads, "Suffrage in Effective and no Re-election". Effective = cash money. (!) A Freudian slip there by the feds!
I got x2 $200 notes right here in Canada. I was given consecutive bills as well, however I had to spend most of them in Mexico. I'll get pictures up ASAP; this camera needs lithium batteries. I'm surprised to know they contain liberty caps on the bottom corner of one side.
Thanks for the info, wd1040!

There are some scans of the notes. Scanning notes is hard since it doesn't pick up intricacies on the note such as the errors. I'd post better resolutions but I'm only allowed 100kb per pic.

Wow, I LOVE the Australian note! Awesome piece! Here's some of my favorites: Yemen, 50 Rials A nice colorful note with a warrior puppet (or something). Solomon Islands, 2 Dollars Love the fishing kids who's splashing the water to trap the fishes. Lebanon, 250 Pounds Love the images, they're like paintings and it's almost like you're there!

I can add that the horse statue is the Chollima Bronze Statue in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.
