That seller doesn't really seem to attribute varieties. I guess they let the bidders do the work.
I would be curious to know if the surfaces on that coin are original or dipped.

In all honesty, if I were averaging 2000 coins a month for 25 years, I might not be scrutinizing coins that closely, either.

Dang. I'm so busy this time of year or definitely would have been beaten on that one. That guy sells a lot of cleaned coins. That one looks legit. Maybe a 65.

Hello, thanks for posting the link so we could check this out. IMO that is FS-802. For a little over $1k that's a steal. Top pop for PCGS is a 64 valued at $2.7k..crazy!

Another one of these came up from the same seller and went for $1580. To me that's too much of a gamble on the coin coming back straight graded. I bid and won a 1957D tail feathers a while back and it came back cleaned. I can't figure out why. There is no sign of cleaning to me.

I bought a few unattributed Mercury dime varieties from that seller. Folks here were quick to pounce on them as cleaned or dipped. I don't buy there anymore, it feels like too much of a risk.
