Lincoln "Professional Life" Release

Thanks for the update biokemist, it's alway interesting to hear what was going on at these events.

Made it back from Springfield.
Another great release event!

First off, as I reported the other day about what Ms Smith said;
she was totally wrong!
The Post Office DID postmark rolls. Their rule...only 6 items at a time.
The line for that was a mile long. Luckily not many people knew that you could go into the right side door and walk right up to a postal clerk, bypassing the mile long line. The people in the long line were waiting to stamp their 6 rolls with the black special commemorative professional life postmark cancellation stamp.

What they didn't realize is that, that stamp will be used for 30 days! It offers a nice collector item but no provenance of actual first day issue.

Biokemist6....you did well by getting the red business cancellation stamp. At 5pm on August 13, 2009 that stamp ceased to exist.

The lucky few that used the red business cancellation stamp have true provenance of first day of issue.

I was lucky enough to get 72 rolls, all stamped and dated, 20 with the black, the rest with the red cancellation post mark.

Other highlights of our trip to Springfield included:
I was interviewed by a local news station.
My son was interviewed by a local newspaper.
I was able to obtain a press kit from the event (very cool)(my second one).
I was able to get Mr Edmond Moy to sign two rolls, one P one D, special mint wrapper, Log Cabin rolls with pictures of my son and Mr Moy standing together holding the signed rolls (also very cool).

The event as a whole was great. The weather could not have been better. Cool in the morning, blue skies and lots of sunshine.

Those were some great pictures, looks like it was a good time for most. I was wondering though if at the events for the LP1 and LP2 they sold both the P and the D, or if it has been only the P at all 3 events?
I think that is an awesome father and son story by the way, sometimes the best times are those that unfold naturally, rather than every single minute planned.

It was P only for the LP2 event (I was at that one).

I believe the same was true for the LP1 event.
