Quote: Deep South (using a Sheriff Buford T. Justice voice): "Son, what are you - some kinda secret numatist or something?" East Coast (using Joe Pesci voice): Eh. EH! Whattya doin? You some kinda smart alec numatist or something? Midwest/Mid South: Oh goodness! My great granddaddy is a coin collector. He would love to see this. Can I call him and have him come up? West Coast: Dude. DUDE! That is like - so cool - I love all that history stuff with pirates and stuff. Did you get this from some dead dude? Hopefully it goes better than the day my friend and I spent $11 in halves at the Taco Bell drive thru.
The girl first asked if they were real. When I told her they were real she then had to call the MGR over and make sure she could take them.
None of them could understand why my friend and I were about to choke from laughing so hard.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

I think you may run into trouble due to the fact that it is so worn. You can barely make out the word "cents"...much less "United States of America" or "in God We Trust". They might think you're trying to pass a foreign coin or something! This is where you can try to educate them on a little coinage history and try to recruit some new collectors! "Serious people this is an authentic American 2 cent coin! This was the first coin to bear the motto In God We Trust...right there on that worn out ribbon above what used to resemble a shield"! Take your RedBook with you...it will be a little easier to convince the recipient of this coin! (Or the cops if they're called)

Without the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA showing I predict you will have a hard time spending it. I know I did when I tried to spend a 1902 V nickel and it DID have the country name on it.

Since you cannot make out the deatils on the coin, I do not believe anyone except a coin savvy person will honor it.
