That lady that said she wont do that, I would of asked her why then got back in line and chose a different teller, hopefully a more nicer...and smarter one. Doesn't matter though, coin roll hunting is dead in Canada now and we need to live with that.

silver hunter - just try a different branch or get 10 rolls at a time. They may have Mint boxes in the back (safe) but often have the customer rolled rolls up at the front.

I wouldn't say coin roll hunting is dead. I recently found a 1991 25¢ in a roll hunt a few weeks ago.

I don't even bother with the regular tellers... First thing I do when I go to the bank is go to the commercial teller ... Usually this is the teller with senority and is also located closest to the vault/or deposit area where they store their banknotes and coinage.
Get to know these tellers.. and don't be afraid to let them get to know you. Tell them a little about you when you visit... make it a bit personal and there's better chances they will look out for your interests when you build a relationship. (ex. one of the commercial tellers at one of the branches I visit was pregnant.. we started talking about kids as I have just recently had two kids... 2.5 yrs and 9 mo old. The next time I came in I had a "baby gift" of a recieving blanket and some baby toys and some books.. BAM! Relationship is made and even while she was on maternity leave the other tellers who took notice of my gesture were very happy to help me in my quest for coins)...
Try to go to banks that HAVE coin machines open to the public as your DRAW banks .. and banks that don't have the coin machines as your DUMP banks...
It costs the banks money to order new coinage. So sometimes banks will use the coins they get from their coin machines... this is a great way to get finds from someone who just dumped "grandma's piggy bank" ....

Quick note on the TD coin machines. They are picked up by an external company so the tellers never see the coin that is dumped in them nor do they have to lift the full heavy buckets.
and yes the commercial / business tellers are the ones that deal the most with coin (ordering it in and shipping it out). It costs the bank money to do both of these so they prefer not to do it. Do try to find a branch that takes in more coin than they typically give out as you will actually be saving them time and money by picking up coin from those branches. Which means there also branches that give out more than they take in so you can bring back your rolled boxes to them. There's a TD branch by a couple of Universities that I bring my quarter boxes to, the students are always in need of some 'laundry tokens'.
Of course, always be kind to the tellers and try to build those relationships. Plus if it's really busy that day, be kind to the other patrons and come back when it's less busy.

I gave up taking boxes from CIBC because the coins are machine wrapped. There's no point in going through loads of coins just to get less than 1 2000P. Try to find banks that don't take in machine wrapped rolls

Roll hunting is definitely not dead here on PEI. I picked up a box each of nickels, dimes and quarters yesterday . I found 3 pre-'60 US nickels, a 1938, 2 1940, a '62 double date, 1 1970, 6 1991, 2 2000P. About average for $100 of nickels. Dime box had 5 silver dimes (higher than my 3 silver per box average), 2 1970. Quarter box had 1 1970, 1 2001, 2 coloured Men's Hockey Olympics, and a 2010 Oh Canada set coloured quarter.

I've been going to the same bank for months trying to complete my toonie + varieties collection. Today the manager told me I cant order any more boxes from them, No if-ands-or butts....because they're changing their ordering system..HUUH (no other TD has said this)...I was kind of upset. Why? I have a bank account? I'm not sure why they decided to do this to me since they told me I'm the only one that does this at their bank and I new most of the tellers. Is anything actually changing with TD's ordering system? Or is that just a load of crap to get me to stop the hunt?... Makes me want to close my account...

Northside: In my opinion this is just their way of blowing you off... they were probably ordering in twonies for you which is a cost. Banks don't like to incur costs FOR their customers.. they like to incur fees FROM their customers...

Seems your bank must be a smaller branch that does not hold enough volume of loonies or toonies for you to search. and has been ordering them from their currency centre and then likely has to ship the boxes back after you deposit what you've searched. My advise would be to go to a larger "main" branch that carries a larger volume of coin and buy it for f/v there. You don't need to be a customer to buy coin, you'd just want to find a bank with the excess quantities on hand.

I was shocked...some of the tellers asked me to bring a few errors in to show them...so I did (I like to show them off) and a minute later the manager comes up to me and says the order I placed earlier this week has been cancelled and I can no longer order because of their system change blahhhblahhhblahhhhh....yaa okk. This branch is one of the larger TD's in Hamilton ONT. I'll get my coins from a different bank then unload them all into this banks coin deposit machine..fill that sucker up weekly.. muahhmuahh The only catch, I'm currently a student (I'm 22 trying to finish teachers college) so the bank fees are minimal..I'll see if any other banks offer a similar service for now

Northside: I have a no fee TD account.... TD is my "dump bank" because of their change machine... and I seriously use it... with my TD account I'm allowed 1-2 withdrawals... but unlimited deposits... so off all the nickles and dimes and quarters go!
I also have an RBC and a credit union account and at those banks I have made very good friends with some of the commercial tellers and they treat me very VERY well... some will even call me when interesting items come in...
P.S. good luck with teacher's college... I'm a P.E. teacher and love every single day of it! The Ed degree I didn't enjoy .. (found it to be a LOT of "fluff") but the job is incredible.
