So a criminal breaaks into your house looking for coins. Not being into tools, he just gives up and leaves telling all his crook friends how you have nothing worth even looking at. HMMM, good idea.

Very nice! This thread prompted me to think about my tools. I do have some well stocked tool cabients. Continuing with this thought process, I have come to realize that my tools are worth more than my coins. How did that happen?

HMMM, good idea. Unfortunately, I think tools are on the crooks minds too. They can be valuable and easily sold. Not to mention the ease of rolling them out of the garage in a nice cart!

How did that happen?
Easy to accumulate tools. Not sure but every time I reach for a tool, I realize I don't have one so have to either buy one or borrow. My neighbor is a Ford Mechanic and has a 3-1/2 car garage full of tools. Very possibly in the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth. He doesn't worry about theft at all. Probably should. 1. If you think about it coins can be easily carried off inspite of some people with a real lot of them such as in this photo. 2. Coins, such in this photo are all in one place making it easier for them to walk off. 3. Although coins are resonably easy to sell off, the majority of them are to fill slots in Albums and those are almost return to bank types for a criminal. 4. All the coins shown here could be shoved into a small car and off they go. 5. Tools on the other hand are usually dirty, greasy, heavy. Not easily run off with although that happens too. 6. Tools are more easily sold at yard/garage/estate sales, flea markets, pawn shops, at work, at schools or almost anywhere. 7. Almost all tools are usefull and almost all could be sold compared to real common coins. The moral of this is to collect Beanie Babies. No one else wants those so you are really, really safe.

Coindexter, please tell me that you keep this toolbox in your garage or shed or closet, rather than in your house proper......convenient as it might be, that would be 'way' tacky.
