bought 3 danscos and would've bought 4 but the site I used was all out of Roosevelt dime dansco albums I said screw it I never buy anything for myself so whats 70 bucks After shipping all 3 came to 67.76 pretty good price, in fact the best I could find and I did free shipping, and all kinds of other sites the place I choose was wizard coin supply I had to pay shipping but it was 10 bucks for all 3 albums the price difference between that and vernon coin center with its free shipping it was still a better deal to pay the shipping at wizard coin supply I hope it isn't against the rules to write down where I bought the albums, or sites that have them, because I noticed other posts that mentioned other sites are gone now? hmmm well I hope everyone reads this before it gets taken down if thats what this site does I'm not promoting anything just saying where the cheapest site was that I found...will update when the albums come in and show some pics when I get some coins in them Cant wait and thanks all for your inputs |

I dealt with a very old collection stored in folders, and the reverse of those coins was so horrible that I want nothing to do with folders ever again -- no matter how safe you tell me they are. The horror of those BU Morgans with muddy brown reverses... ugh.

I would love to see a picture of what an album does to coins after 40 years. The only reason I say this is because I haven't seen it before.
I have some G4 Lincolns in my Dansco. I'm sure most people would shun these things, but guess what - I don't have a better coin and I want that spot filled!

Usually don't take photos of coins in an Album. How's this?  I started with Whitman about 60 years ago but there wasn't Albums then you know. When they came out with Albums, I switched most of my coins to them and continued with each type of Whitman Albums as they came out. No problems with them at all, ever. In reality I do know Dansco Albums have a higher manufacturing process for quality and YES, they are made better, hate to admit that. However, I still like the contrast with Blue for the pages and a Copper coin. To me it's a shame about what has happened to Whitman over the years. At first bought out by employees, then bought out by that larger coin product company, name I forget or try to. Quality has dropped unfortuately but way to late to change. |

I agree... put whatever coins you want wherever you want them. They are YOUR coins, display them how YOU want to. Who cares about the quality?

Odd that you mention that. I've been contiplating doing exactly that with blank pages in a blank Album cover. Presently I have 5 or 6 of those Whitman Cardboard boxes full of errors in 2x2's. Sure would be nice to have them in an Album. The main problem is the variances in denominations. For example a full page for Nickels and if only a few, page looks forgotten. I will work oh this next. And that 1909S VDB is from my all MS graded, complete set of those Cents. Edited by just carl

Variances in denominations indeed would be an issue but, the unique shapes of broadstruck and off center specimens, would be an issue. I also have many errors, some slabbed but most raw. We should both work on this ;-)

I don't think broadstrucks and offsets are a problem since they could easily be placed in a slot intended for a much larger coin. For example a large offset of a Cent could fit into a slot for a Nickel or a Quarter. But since manufacturers usually make the blank pages for albums with all the same denominations, such a Nickel page for Cent offsets would require a full page of them. They could be mixed on a page of course but for some reason I would think all of the error coins per page should be the same denomination. I was contimplating using all Quarter pages for almost all coins but then that would allow to much movement per coin. I've made some wierd Albums in the past so this is one I will work on next. |

what I didn't like about the whitman albums was that the 09-date pennies and even the other coins wouldn't all fit in the pages
I think I would need to buy extra pages
that was the way I understood the web sites

Lost me with this one. Occationally I've found some tight fitting slots but easily fixed by simply honing out the slot a bit with a larger sized coin. I've heard that from some of those Dansco people too. |

I meant that they would go up to like 2002 so I would need to buy another page but anyways danscos came in today and I love albums!!!! what a professional look also I never realized how nice my half dollars look most are very BU I need to work on my nickels, but now since I have protection and can see both sides of the coin I can work on getting great examples of the coins I just got an email from the company too saying they have dime albums back in stock so I might have to order one more! I might just wait though and buy that album when I decide to buy more Liberty nickels have caught my eyes as well as Mercury dimesthose will be my next 3 danscos once I get these ones to a really nice point thanks for all you guys help this has been thought about by me for about 5 months and I'm glad I finally purchased something |

Actually I acqured my Whitman Albums so long ago that many of my pages are from blanks that only said Cents on the top of the page. In some Albums I've been adding dates and mint marks from as far back as t the 1980's. Whitman sells those press on Gold looking letters/numbers and I use them. And yes, although a Whitman user, I agree the Dansco Albums do look more professional than almost any other brands. their color sort of reminds people of leather bound books. Their binders are a little higher than most others so blend in with other books better on a bookshelf. Regardless of that, not sure how many people display coin Albums out in the open for the general population to see anyway. Sort of like having a 10 carrot Diamond ring and leaving it on a table. Or a Lamborghini auto and no garage so parked on the street. |

I have both Whitman and Dansco albums . But my main collections (higher grade) I'm a 2X2 Kinda guy

I've had coins in cheap Whitmans for over 45 years and they still look the same as the day I put them there. Of course, they were and still are all average circulated. The only exception...1943 steel cents, which have gone markedly downhill.
As for Dansco 7070 project, mine ranges from G to MS-65 as price permits and I'm gonna love it if I ever finish it.
