I was doing the Lincolns, well I still am, but I wanted to do two at a time. I went with Jefferson's partially because my grandfather gave me about $300 worth of nickels pre 1964 to keep, but I wanted to also get away from pure copper coins. I think you can get some of the key dates in BU at a relatively good price if you look around. I've got my 1950-D PCGS MS64 for about $25. Now granted you can do better then MS64, but I'm not at the point in my collection that I want to pay that much yet. I bought an unslabbed toned one for about $15. I think the expensive ones seem to be the 38 and 39 D's. Goofy cause the lowest mintage nickel is not the most expensive.

Just my Two Cents.

I just finished my Jefferson set in BU, I really like how it came out.
The two that I spent the most for were, the 1939 D ($76.00) then the
1942 D ($40.00 +).
There is no slot in the Dansco, but the two most expensive Jefferson
are the 1994 matte proof and then the 1997 matte proof. These only
came in a commemorative sets made those years, and are very low mintage.

Good luck on with your set .. it is a set that I had a lot of fun collecting.

Well I bought about 30 in mint cello had been cut out of mint sets. And I will be cracking proof sets for the Lincolns in them so I figured I might as well do Jefferson while I'm doing Lincoln

Always like to hear another collector getting into the Jefferson's. I am like Fioti. Still upgrading my original set for over 30 years myself. I keep all my higher grade duplicates too. Have fun!

I could use some of your higher grade duplicates!! Haha... most of mine are circulated. I have almost finished all of the War Nickels in BU. They're not choice or gem BU, but I'm satisfied with them for now.

If your just starting with those hit the banks for rolls of Nickels. Possibly could fill most of the Album in no time.

Good luck with the set. I also have a number of Jeffersons set aside to go into a Dansco when I get it.

Always pleased to read about a new Jefferson collector.

Looking forward to some updates and hopefully photos of some of your coins.

Presently have 7 completed sets of Jefferson nickels. Although sort of stopped a few years ago on them so probably the last few years missing. Should get back to them or the prices of the latest ones will be to hard to find in change.
