Cull wheat better than shiny zinc any day.

I think the pre-zinc Lincolns seem to be struck in higher relief than the zincolns. It seems like it got especially bad in the 90's as you say. I can almost always tell copper from zinc just by look and feel alone.

I agree. I think every 1968 cent I have has a thick solid date. But, I guess the US Mint and the Fed don't care about quality and how long these coins will last.

Logic states that an ugly cull/AG LWC is less worthy than a shiny new red coin, but logic can fool you, I guess, because people don't know the composition of coins.

What would a roll of ugly cull/AG LWCs sell for?

I can tell which cents are from the '60's and which are from the '90's (without reading the date) because they have a different look.

Yep, and you know what is really nice? When you see the back of one of those and you think..."ya that's going to be a ninety" you flip it over and it's a 60. A really nice 60.

The way some of the '90's and 00's are looking (that I've seen), I don't expect them to last as long as the wheats. The reverse lettering is fading already.

Online, I compared a 2010 cent with a 1960 cent and it looks like the 1960 cent has more of a thicker beard.

I think I'm looking to wait a while and possibly accumulate more culls while searching LWC rolls. I wish one of those culls was a 1922.
If the roll of Lincoln 2010 Shields has the US Mint wrapper, then I would trade.

I've seen so many 1990-2004's (roughly that time period) with fading lettering on the reverse. That's pretty sad. If they're fading now, what will they like be in 10 years?

Actually if you get enough experience digging through bags of cents you will be able to sort them easily into four groups...

1960s have higher relief yet less detail on the head.

1970s are slightly flatter design yet still copper.

1980s have a dish-like design on both sides and look 'funny'.

1990s and 2000s have a flattened design that's cleaner than the 80s.
