Since I can't see doubling on the MM, I'll vote doubled die

What would we do without Coop and his pics. I voted MD, because it looked 'shelf like' but why is it only on a couple of the numbers.

Ok...now to read the posts. Looks flat and shelf like with no obvious separation. I vote for MD. I have been wrong many times so I hope I'm learning a bit as I go. Love the pic.

Playing devil's advocate here: But the right side of the 9 looks rounded? What is the sure thing it is Machine Doubling?

Okay, but what about the fact that it's also a class 6 doubled die? That's why I put in the statement that a 'none of the above' answer should be there - because that's what I would have answered. There was no choice for " Machine Doubling AND doubled die"

From the Machine Doubling on the mint mark (also in the same direction as the Machine Doubling) I discounted the coin as normal machine doubled. At first I thought it was a doubled die but after seeing the Machine Doubling on the mint mark I concluded it wasn't a doubled die.

But what you did not see is the fact that the base width of the digits of the date scream doubled die. They are WAY too thick for a normal hubbing. While there is Machine Doubling on the coin, it is also a class 6 doubled die. No doubt about it.

Not fair as this date has a master double die and shows on this coin. But the part that really shows, I voted Machine Doubling. Terrell

Not sure whether the point was skipped there or not... I was not referring to the master die doubling that shows on all 1944 cents to a certain degree or another. I was referring to the blatant class 6 doubled die ALONG WITH the Machine Doubling. This is a very bad example of "one or the other" because it's not. It's both.

Quote: They are WAY too thick for a normal hubbing That was the one thing that had me wondering why I was wrong...(or right)
