Add 8 to the old Canada pennies so about 50. Add another 32 wheat cents. Found about 10 60-D Sm dates, lots of nice BU coins in the 70's and a few coins with MM errors. I found about 10 with die chips. Finished it today. On the other 3 bags... they'll have to wait...lol.. still trying to catch up on everything else. Just picked op a nickel bag just like it from the bank ($200 bag) it should have 5 or more silver ones in it :).

Looks like some one is dumping some cents back into circulation. A lot to look for on Lincoln Cents with all the varieties that could be there. So I would look at these at least a couple of eyes before putting them back to work. I would also save the BU/AU pre 2000 coins as well. If you have missed something now, at least a better coin grade would be a nice find. If not, throw them back into circulation.

Here's my crude way of going through pennies. 1) Pile up the pennies on one end 2) look at them under the glass 3) Determine which bin they go in - just have to slide them in 4) Pennies going to the bank just sit on the left side of the white box. 5) You'll see dollar tubes with dates I keep all the way around the top of the desk. 6) One a tube gets filled, I put them in bags (2nd pic). 7) The BU stuff I put in tubes as well (2nd pic) 8) When a bag gets full, I have one date to go through rather than stop at each coin. The light is adjustible so I can use any angle I need it at. Helps with single coin pics too. I think it'd be fun to have a thread on just your "set up". I'll start another thread; maybe we all can get different ideas and be a little more efficient.   Edited by Peaceman

so will all of these banks have bags like this? I just started and got my first Box a few days ago...only 5 wheats...1 canadian...but alot of older BU's (between 1960-present)...
I am assuming my box was sorted through...so the bags would be better?

I put the bags on the side then I go through them one by one trying to find errors. If I dont, either back to the bank or put them in the copper pile or save the date for a roll for only prestine examples... Bags never leave my house.....

Further along with this project than I am! One thing that I find useful is to use empty CD-R or DVD-R containers to hold my coins by decades, which is the way I begin my sorting. I have plenty of various sized ones that I find useful.

That's an incredible bag Peaceman! Great job on finding so many " Indian cents of the north (George V's)!" I live 1 hour south of the Canadian border and have never found one. I have found 7 Indian cents "in the wild," and would guess that George V's are at least 10 times rarer in circulation. Best of luck with the other bags as well! Chugly |
