Missing craters inside and below the bell support. Nice find.

I would guess a struck thu grease error, but I'm no expert.

I should have been more descriptive. T-2 1976 D Ikes have a series of 12 craters descending along the right side of the bell almost to the bell lines. This Ike exhibits only 5. I'm not counting the bag mark as a run-on meteor strike. I think that I would have to recant my struck through opinion and say over polished die...maybe. It's still a great specimen and should probably be attributed by the IKE guys.

carmykle has gotten it...it is missing a couple craters...now for the reasoning? IDK...my best guess would be grease...but I'm a amature

Yes, lots of missing detail in and around the Bell. This is due to clashing. I'm surprised that the operator could remove the entire deep crator located at the top right of the bell.

That is because the crater would be a raised feature on the die. Die detail in relief is easy to accidentally remove via excessive die abrading.

Some of the hanger bolts on the left is starting to disappear as well.
