Congrats! ebay is also a great place to pick up a ton of stuff cheap...but you need to learn carefully and slowly in order to not get ripped off. However, if you do things right, you can get $100 coins for $50 sometimes. I find that it's easier to sell coins from popular series', but tough to sell those from less collected series (because people often want just one for their type set, not multiples). Be careful with dealers too...if you try to sell coins you bought from a dealer on ebay, in most cases you will lose money (especially after the extreme fees). Welcome to this addictive hobby...

Thanks everybody really enjoy your advice. I'm still trying to figure out what I really want to collect. I was really into Morgans but I don't think the budget can afford that collection. I'm still searching :)

You've got a really good head start on the Morgans, and if you really love 'em, there's no reason to stop collecting them. True, you would have to mortgage a couple of houses in order to afford them all, even the keys in XF-AU. Have you considered a date set? A member posted a few threads back a nice collection of Morgan/Peace dollars in a Dansco date set album that was nicely put together. The only really pricy coins in BU would be in the 1892-1895 run, and if you choose AUs, the prices are even better. Morgan dollars are the workhorse of the hobby, and so many people want them, so a good matched set would definitely hold its value.

you have quite a nice start it appears that you buy your coins. Have you tried searching? You can pretty quickly build up a lot of coins and fill out what you think is a laughable collection. You are way farther along then I was at 2 months also I like the large note you have there. I still have yet to get my hands on one

Yea I actually started another thread about how people search for coins where they get them all that. I am going to be started that asap. The fun should start to happen haha.

That's a very good start. You're collection is much better than mine was after two months. I jumped in hard without doing too much research. Thankfully I didn't start buying higher quality (hence higher priced) coins for my first six or seven months. But it looks like you're off to a great start. I'm on a college student budget too, so I know how difficult it can be!
