My Lincoln Memorial set was completed pretty quickly; I buil the initial set in a month or so through searching circulation coins but took another six months to get everything in uncirculated condition. It is mostly done although there are a couple of upgrades I'd like to do and I need the 1970-S small date. Shoulda bought one when it was $30; now they are $50. The Lincoln Wheat cent is a work in progress. I have spent the last two years upgrading back to the early 1930's to uncirculated coins and plan to keep going back. I have all but three of the keys - 09-S VDB, 09-S, and 14-D. It will probably be many years until it is complete. |

My Lincoln sets are complete except for the 1922 not D (which I will never get). My album doesn't have a spot for 1982-S, so I don't need it.

I think you probably have a Warman folder? For some reason it does show a 1982s,the only proof spotit has. I would suggest you get an album (Dansco, wgitman, littleton etc..) The album will also include the small date 70 and all seven 82s. The folder you have only has 82 P D and S?

LMC/LSC: I'm short a couple varieties but it's not bothering me yet. I paid $3 shipped for my 1982-S LWC: BU back to 1938 without proofs. Circulated prior to that and pretty weak :( It's getting where I have to sell 2 boxes of rocks to buy anything. Slowly but surely! |

Welcome to SMC and good luck with your collection!
You will be forced to buy many of the coins you need. Finding everything is circulation is next to impossible, so be prepared. Unless you're collecting proofs, forget the 82-S. The odds of finding one in circulation are less than winning the lotto. LOL
If you're planning on a complete Lincoln collection, start saving for the key dates because they are expensive and not getting any cheaper.

Believe it or not, I have found an 82-S LMC while roll searching here in Canada. I think I initially just threw it in a pile of 'coins to check later', not noticing the mintmark right away. Then a few hours later I put it under my 10x to reconfirm that it was a large date, and I was shocked to see the S! I still feel this is perhaps my best ever roll find -- even though it's practically worthless, how often does a proof cent show up on change?! I actually wondered if a few of these were released from the SF mint. Seemed more plausible than someone 'needing' that cent so bad it was cut from a set and spent. I mean I can see spending the quarter or even the dime, but was there no shred of numismatic pity to keep the poor old proof cent? |

I thought so. That being the case you will be missing the 1960 small dates, 1970 small date and there are 7 different 1982's (copper and Zinc) as this is a transition year. Use the search tab to rsearch the LMC s. Also keep in mind that folders are good for searching you will probably want an album or 2x2s for longterm storage. IMO |

I started working on a BU set 1959-present. As I got closer to finishing I extended it to 1941-present. This set includes the 60 & 60-D LD/SD, 74 74D 74S LD/SD, and 82 all seven varieties. I am lacking the small date 70-S and a few others. I have been very picky with this set. It inspired me to put together more modern BU sets. So, now I am working on a BU Jefferson set 1938-present, and I am almost done with a BU Washington quarter set 1999-present. Started working on a quarter proof set 1999-present and a Lincoln Cent proof set 1959-present, which I already have the 60 LD/SD and 79 & 81 Type 1/2. UGH I need to concentrate. Edited by seal006

Oh, and I forgot. Just for grins, I am working on a Lincoln Memorial set 1959-2008, with all coins naturally toned. I am not concerned with the LD/SD varieties on this one.
