I collect pennies, I don't know why but I've always found them to be the most visually attractive of all pre-decimal coins, lately I've also started to collect penny proofs (1955 onwards obviously) probably for the same reason, unlike some on this forum I am fan of PCGS coins (as being a bit of a novice still, they give you a certain sense of security in what you are buying).

I also collect the commemorative 20c, 50c and $1 coins from circulation, I know they aren't really worth anything and never will be, but I just like the way they look.

almost anything round and made of metal hahaha.
I have a love for pre dec. coins as I thik I was born in the wrong era!
ahhh what I would give to be able to go back in time....

I have just started to collect notes as well from all around the world.
Now I know they are not worth much but I prefer the circulation coins and notes.
Just seeing the use in them is what I like and wondering the stories they would talk about if only they could.

Saw a guy on the Collectors TV show who collects:

wait for it........

belly button fluff!

Against that, my collection is boring.
World coins to 1964, all centuries, all cultures (for about 35 years, now)

I also have a rather extensive collection of faceted gemstones, I have cut perhaps 80 or so.

I collect from circulation and I collect 20c mainly, but trying to obtain everything including errors! have bought a couple but the shame was nearly too much to bear. I noodle and still working on a auto-noddle system.
Currently looking at 5c coins, but they are really small and I may go blind before I can tell the difference in sizes of SD marks! 20c are like bricks in comparison :-)
Have already found a 1972 5c and a 20c wavy 2 (tests pending!) and loving the fact that it does not cost me anything as I chuck return the coins, to a different bank system of course.
Happy Noddling everybody!!

I collect just about anything numismatic. World coins, ancient to modern, is my main focus (if you can call something so broad and fuzzy a "focus"), though I have a few banknotes, tokens, medals and such as well.

My Australian collecting interests haven't changed much since I first started collecting. However, attending coin club meetings has broadened my mind and helped show me the vast array of different collecting fields that are out there.

Love Australian pre decimal (especially the 1920 penny) and the British Empire (pre decimal/ pre independence). Also Egyptian coins (mainly pre '52 milled coins). Have more recently concentrated on adding to my silver coin stack (for SHTF reasons such as the likely collapse of fiat currencies in the next few years).
Avoid modern base metal coins and NCLT coins like the plague (except silver coins below melt)

I am mostly a fan of silver coins (greater than 50% content) but have a fairly catholic collection.
Mostly Australian decimal but some pre. (still looking for a Melbourne centenary florin) and some O/S -mainly New Zealand, but I have started lately on US quarters after coming across a few State Quarters.
My interests change frequently but I usually come back to much the same after a new interest fades.
My favourite coin is 1966 20¢ wavey 2; I have now found 5 of them (over quite a lot of years searching) but have cashed some in and swapped some so, I only have one now.

I collect all Australian issues decimal and pre-decimal, notes and coins. But recently have moved on to PCGS and NGC slabs (and the occasional ANACS).
Haven't been here for a while so a bit rusty on procedures. Please make allowances.

I collect all Aussie coins from circulation, have some Mint Mark coins, but not all of them; I also have a few PNC's, but the majority of all my coins are from circulation.

Also some other countries that I collect besides Australia.

New Zealand
Canada
USA
Great Britain
Ireland (Eire)
New Guinea
Fiji

I also collect Bird coins, tiny coins (under 17 mm diameter), coins dated 1943, and I have fairly small collections of coins that feature knights, cats, dragons, turtles, primates and I have some small Euro coins as well, but not very many.

I'm a bit partial to coins from small Pacific Island Countries as well, eg. Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, New Caledonia.

I also have coins from about another 50 or so countries.
