Thanks Bryan. Have you looked at the 2 on the front and the flip out of the ribbon on the back of the head? I compared them but I am not sure. It might just be the picture.

Its better to be on the suspicious side when a coin like this is not slabbed,, as much as I like my raw coins!!

There are some which for authentification I will only buy slabbed and break out.

Just by the photos Given the coin looks like it has a cast apperance or mybe like it was re-colored or something so a little porous or grainy looking for me. But it could be just the pic If the price is right maybe. Who ever took the photo should of also used a contrasting color and not a complimentary color in the back ground , which in my opinion ( no knowledge Of) could make the coin appear more red. And I agree on the photos needing to be straight down, And I also agree that Brian spends enough time on ebay that He would be able to tell you about the seller's ability to be trusted

Check out the pics now. I trued the color up a little and made them a little bigger. Just because I can.

Thank you Bryan and Scout. I think the coloring comes from the indoor lighting when they took the photo. Of course I'm not sure. I just bought a coin that had the same hue to it on the pictures, but was definitely silver when I received it.
I spent time today reading about the seller's credibility. They are definitely volume high-grade sellers. Does anyone see anything on the coin that doesn't seem right?

I dont, as I said before I even have it in my watch list, and the grainy part scoutjim is talking about is about the norm with these coins. I had this one in my dansco when I first started, its a little corroded but as you can still see its nicely detailed. And as I stated before keydatecoin on ebay is a very reputable dealer and has very many high dollar coins and most are in super high grades and he has A NO QUESTIONS ASKED 5 DAY RETURN POLICY,YOU MUST BE 100% SATISFIED OR NO DEAL policy so you can't go wrong

The pics are much better,, I'm almost certian the coin is authentic, but I'm also just as certian that it has been cleaned.

Thanks again everyone. I don't think I would spend over $100 for it if it's been cleaned.

Kodji, it's genuine. It is highly doubtful that anyone would bother counterfeiting that coin because it's fairly common for a Half Cent. Better photos from the seller would help in ascertaining its condition and variety. There are three varieties of the 1832 Half Cent.

If you buy the coin or not is your decision,, what has been posted is opinion based on some very poor quality photo's of the coin (which in my opinion should not be the case for a high grade coin dealer) But the pics show an aweful lot of black around the devices and down inside the smaller areas of the detail (most notably the hair,Date and lettering) with practically spotless fields both obverse and reverse show the same affect.

once again why would the seller not slab this coin ?

Bryan believes that the seller is good based on the return policy,,and personal experiance buying from him.

I do not have that experiance since I have never bought from him.

I believe the coin has been cleaned based on the explaination above, so the decision to buy or not is for you to make.

Rick

I agree with you Rick. Once I saw the adjusted photos. I asked the seller and they emailed back no way for more photos. Something about the coins being in a vault somewhere and they won't get to them until next week. I have decided to wait on a better quality coin like this with no stuff around the stars and lettering....I guess you would call that area the devices. I am learning everyday about coins with the help of places like this. I am also getting alot pickier than when I first started about 6 months ago seriously.

Thanks again for everyone's time.......I truely appreciate it!
