I found this while I was home for Turkey Day and thought the price was a steal. I always hear people say the "coins look better in hand"...I realise it is hard to take pictures of multiple coins and make them all look like they do "in hand".Guess I should use multiple light sources. Many of the coins in this album are proof (they are not proofs maybe from Uncir Sets) and most others are AU/BU and only a few do not have luster. Any guesses on value? Guesses on what I paid for it? Also...I had read about certain albums damaging the back of coins. This is a older album (I am guessing 1973 cause the 74 and 75 were hand written) Should I remove them or switch albums? Thanks Edited by Jayman931 12/06/2011 4:02 pm

Cant really see the detail close up, but they look pretty good to me. What did you pay for them total?

That is not an album, it is a folder. Albums allow for the viewing of both sides of the coin while it is held in place with acetate slides. Folders are ok for CRH finds but anything of value should be kept in an album as they are much better for protecting coins.

This is probably an unknowledgable collector buying from a unknowledgable seller...lol...I thought he said some of them were proofs....maybe after thinking about it could they be from Uncirculated Mint Sets? I actually never have bought or researched proofs. I guess I was thinking that any sets bought from the Mint were considered Proofs...but after Googling "Proofs" I learned differently. Thanks fro the knowledge (Proofs 101 HA!) I bought my first mint set at the same place I bought these Cents. 1970 Uncir. Mint Set ($10)

36 of the 80+ cents are in as good or better than the coin pictured above 18 of the cents I would say would fall below VF ...the rest are in between.. I am novice at grading also lol...

Yeah, there's definitely no proofs here.
You asked for a value to the set. It's definitely a nice set and I feel its probably the best of these dates I've ever seen in a folder, not an album. What's strange is that most cents put in a folder would lose their color after just a little while. This doesn't look to be a recent "dealer put together" set, so its a mystery.
My brain doesn't want to work right now and I haven't sold post-1934 Lincolns in a while, but I think this might be worth $35 as a set or possibly a little more if you're looking at the coin's individual value. However, only a handful of those would be sellable on an individual basis so, yes, I'd guess $35 value.
You should also switch these coins to an album. All the BU ones are good to go. The AU and below ones could be upgraded later. Nothing 1941 and later is really worth anything in circulated condition except the 1960 SD and the 1970-S SD, neither of which appear in this folder judging from an eagle's eye view

hesgut- Thanks for the info! I think with this album and my own album I have been working on I will be very close to a all BU set. The 1970S SD and the 1960P SD are not in this set. I am guessing I will have to pony up for a good quality 70s SD. I guess its time to buy an album too. Thanks again.

I'm debating making my own album out of 2x2's or just buying a high quality Album....anyone have any insite on pros/cons of either of these? Or any other options for safe keeping of a collection..

Nice find on the folder. They look good on the obverse; have you looked at any of the reverse sides yet? I agree, you should move the coins into an album or 2x2s. I use Dansco albums, but it is really a personal preference.

I have only looked at a few of the Reverse sides and the ones I did were consistant with their Obverse...I like the look of the albums alot...but is it worth it to spend $22-25 bucks on a set of cents that is worth under $100 bucks? That is the question...lol I will probably end up getting an album.

Good to hear! I see no problem spending the extra money on the album because I enjoy they way they look. Call it an added value. In the end, you have to do what will please yourself.
