I've sent in several gold coins to be graded that I've inspected under a lope that are graded improperly cleaned. I can't tell were or how they have been cleaned. Can anybody give me some tips on how to ID the cleaned ones? I've do some researched with little luck.

Gold can be a little tricky as it doesn't really tone like silver but the main thing to look for is directional lines on the face of the coin. Another thing may be dirt in the recesses of the coin with no other sign of any dirt anywhere else. There may be other people that chime in with more things to look for but that is the main two I can think of that I look for when viewing a coin

It could also be that they AREN'T cleaned and they just didn't like the look of them and assumed they were cleaned.
