Addictive Steve's "30-Day" Therapy (please play along)

Hey, rather than me having to buy a new coin every day, my new current strategy is as follows:

=> Instead, how 'bout I merely post each one of my "30" current coins over the next 30 days?

... oh, but the hitch/request is that you guys add as much "good" info as possible (not a whole bunch of blah-blah-blah, but a few awesome tidbits associated with each of the coins/emperors/etc) ... get it?

That would be awesome .... and there may even be "daily" prizes? (well doubtful, but we'll have to see what happens, right?)

... oh my, how exciting ...

*whateva*

eventually, you'll realize how cool my idea actually is ...

Sounds like a good idea and its always a good thing to pause every now and again and learn a bit of background about what you have. Its good for everyone to see nice coins and learn a bit of info

I think in your case, seeing how bad you have the bug and how much you've 'invested' in your other thread it could be a great idea for 30 days 'cold turkey'.

One thing I know about this coin, is the reverse depicts a labarum, which is a military standard bearing the Chi-Rho symbol (), adopted during Constantine the Great's reign.

Ummm, well I guess you're correct amida17 ... all I meant was, that I didn't want "pages and pages of copied text" ... but if there were a couple of "golden tidbits" then that would be great

EXPECTATIONS:

a) did the dudes that sold me the coins get the obverse and reverse correct?

b) are they real or fake?

... blah-blah-blah

d) where it is minted and/or any good coin/mint interestiing stuff

c) most important and interesting => gimme the good junk on the emperor and/or the coin goddess, nymph, etc ... "that is the gold" ... right?

thanks

Full name: Flavius Valentinianus Augustus

During his reign, Valentinian fought successfully against the Alamanni, Quadi, and Sarmatians. Most notable was his victory over the Alamanni in 367 at the Battle of Solicinium. His brilliant general Count Theodosius defeated a revolt in Africa and the Great Conspiracy, a coordinated assault on Britain by Picts, Scots, and Saxons. Valentinian was also the last emperor to conduct campaigns across both the Rhine and Danube rivers. Valentinian rebuilt and improved the fortifications along the frontiers -- even building fortresses in enemy territory.
Due to the successful nature of his reign and almost immediate decline of the empire after his death, he is often considered the "last great western emperor". He founded the Valentinian Dynasty, with his sons Gratian and Valentinian II succeeding him in the western half of the empire.

Supposedly the chi-rho symbol appeared to Constantine after a meteorite / asteroid, incident. Its not too clear when this happened (if at all), reading the available texts it could have been anything upto two years before the battle of Milvian bridge (310-312AD).

Valentinian and Constantine did have one major thing in common though, they both showed religious tolerance and the new gods were worshipped along with the old.

Valentinian is considered by some to be the last great warrior Emperor defending or helping to defend Roman borders from the Alemanni (Germany), Saxon, Pictish and Scots (Britain).

Yes, I see that. I was looking through all of the post since I left on this trip. I guess when one is addicted it may take a little work to ween them off the addiction. Nice coins, but ouch, $7000 in just 35 days? You need help, man!
