Well for a while I've collected $2 bills and $1 coins. I recently came across a few unique bills and coins to add to my collection and would really like to know if they are worth anything and how rare or common they are.
Heres a list of what I would like some info on...
1) 1934 A $20 gold seal hawaii note
2) 1950 $10 with the words (WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND) on the bottom of the note
3) 1974 D $1 silver coin
4) 1977 $1 silver coin
5) 1977 D $1 silver coin
6) 1978 $1 silver coin
7) 1978 D $1 silver coin
8) 1776-1976 $1 silver coin

The US did not make silver coins in the dates shown below:

how can I post pictures on here... i'd like to know what I have then because it clearly says united states of america on the back of the coins as well as a eagle. the "anniversary one" has a bell and a moon on the back.

Have to echo what the others have said. 3-8 are not silver, they are just called "Silver Dollars".

john: thanks for the reply... the link you provided was very helpful. They also came in handy when comming up with an estimate on my 1981 A $20 and 1963 A $10
buddy: I would have to agree... although they might not hold a great value I think they are awesome. I have never come across these until a few months ago when I received my first one as a tip (I work at a casino). on a different date from a different person I received the other 5 together as "payment".
coinaholic: thanks for your link also and clarifying the mint marks I thought were D's... they are S's. How would I go about identifying silver vs copper nickel mixtures? My guess would be a magnet?
madmortician: ah at last someone near by that doesn't think I'm nuts for collecting lol SILVER DOLLARS... GOT IT

The best or most accurate method is weight;
Circulation Strike Weight: 22.7 grams
40% Silver Weight: 24.6 grams

thanks for the info. I'm sure I sound like such a newbie... oh wait I AM A NEWBIE!
so they all weighed in at 22.7... So that puts them at $2 each?
any advice on cleaning coins? or are they better as is?

Your in roseville eh? You should go to the roseville flea market, there is a coin dealer that has a large inventory there. I use to live near there but have since moved once I graduated

@ILVUCURRENCY: I don't think you are nuts at all. When I am at the bank or store, if I have an extra dollar or two in my pocket, and they have those in their drawer, I take them off their hands and bring them home for no reason. Getting a bag full of them pretty quick.
And I'd say don't clean them. I prefer coins that show some age. By cleaning them you won't bring up their grade (someone correct this noob if I am wrong there), and in fact you can end up damaging them bringing their value down.

mkman: yup I'm right down the street from denios. Thanks for reminding me about the coin dealer there. I havent been there in about a year but will def. be making a trip soon.
madmortician: haha thanks... now convince my boss and coworkers that I'm not. Being that we work in a casino I guess theyve never seen some one buy money to keep it hoarded away in their closet? lol
And yeah thats kind of what I figured.

ok I'm a little puzzled right now... using the first site by john1 I wasnt able to find one of my bills listed.
Its a 1976 $2 *note
G00557403*
And also need clarification on the true meaning of a 2003 $2 Premium Federal Reserve Set of 12.
What do I look for thats different from the 2003 $2 note?
