Well for what it's worth I'm with you,i believe it is a 1920 altered date,i cut a rounded piece of paper and sat it on top of the date & the 3 is too low by about a millimetre or fractionally more. All the numbers in the date are evenly spaced from the inner circle "EXCEPT" the 3.

And "No returns". All adds up to steer clear. Must admit the note about pickup from bank safe deposit is a nice touch! Of course, you can lodge anything in a safe deposit by paying a small fee. If I had a genuine 1930 penny I would be getting a certificate from, say, Walter Eigner http://www.numismatics.com.au/ and send it to one of the big auction houses. ebay is not the place to sell one of those. Walter knows pennies like Nancy knows Cuds. Jeff

I think it's the 0 that started life as a 6. This seller purchased a 1930 replica/copy back on 1 March for $12 from gr8-coins. I just sent the seller this message: "Recycling the Replica/Copy you bought in March for $12 - SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! " I don't expect an answer from him, but maybe he'll get cold feet and pull the sale. I haven't bothered reporting it to ebay, as in my experience they don't give a toss!!

Either way the coin in question has an English obverse,so there's virtually no chance of it being real.

Thanks for the good words Jeff, the coin has flat obverse rims like a Sydney mint strike which would make it appear to be a 1920, but there's a lot of flattening to the detail without apparent wear - note the robes of King Geo V, the legends. I'm more inclined to say it's a modern copy.
In regards to the legalities, it's legal to import/export/produce/buy/sell copies of coins produced before 1965 as long as you don't have the intention to pass it off as an authentic item. It's not very well policed though.
