wif, it seems that the coin is housed in display card, can not be taken out unless you destroy the card.

Maybe the display card can be steamed open.......
I really don't get this set. It is like they just threw it together in case they had left over ASEs from the 2 coin set. Maybe this is not the case, but it sure seems this way. Who really wants a $5 bill that begins with 150, oh boy? :-) Of course calling the SF set a 75th anniversary set is a stretch as well. What are they going to try and sell us next? I'm staying away from this one and hopefully everyone else does as well.

The Mint never called the 2 coin set a 75th Annie set...that is a name being used only by PCGS

The mint referenced it several times especially early on. PCGS and NGC called it for what it was even though the mint backed off that angle when I guess they got some negative responses by it. It was always the entire justification of the set and all the S products weve been seeing this year for no reason

NGC is NOT calling it a 75th Annie set....It is a San Francisco Eagle Set which is what the Mint called it when it was for sale.
PCGS is the ONLY company calling it a 75th Annie set
A few publications originally called it a 75th Anniversary set but the Mint put out a statement saying that it was just a set honoring the San Fran Mint which started operations 158 years ago (yes, they moved to a new building 75 years ago)

I'll have to double check my Star Spangled Banner set but I could have sworn that the coin is inside a standard Mint capsule, then wedged into a piece of plastic on the card but it can actually be removed. If that's the case, I'd assume the design for the MAH is the same. Although when I called PCGS they said to get the MAH designation you'd have to submit the whole thing. If mintage on this set is 100k or less, while mintage of the SF set is 250k, wouldn't it be ironic if graded 70s with the MAH label ended up worth more than the SF label?

There are a bunch in collectors hands already so SOMEONE should be able to give an answer to this....

Fox thats fine, and the 75th move is exactly why the mint is doing all this. PCGS is just calling it for what it is which I like. The mint can try and call it what it wants and its fine they put the set out but trying to pretend thats not why they did it when that didnt go over well initially is just more underhanded advertising from the mint which weve seen plenty of lately

It is a standard mint issue capsule wedged into the card. One side of the capsule is in between the two pieces of the cardboard folder "holding" it in place. Similar practice on the other special sets this year, the DOF and SSBs.

I noticed in earlier reading in this topic about the ASE'S mintages, the 1995 being the lowest at 30,125. I believe the 2008 with the reverse of the 2007 is the second lowest mintage "known" being approx 42,000 , I could be wrong.......
