I just found when I was going through my $1 coins I got today, it is from 2008 and is from canberra any help would be grateful!

Nice find that is a NCLT coin "C" mintmark

i would, a circulated one of these is actually rarer than a uncirculated coin in my opinion

Nice pickup, that. Certainly a coin you won't find every day, and even so, you won't be able to retire on the proceeds...
These would get no more than $5 on ebay, I'd guess, as there are plenty of fresh-mint ones still in their packaging being sold all the time.
The beauty and appeal of the one you found it that it did get into circulation, so has been a 'real' coin for some part of its life.
As trout said, these are much rarer than ones still in their packaging.

1981 - claw - look for the wave based letters for confirmation
1981 - a dot above the r in Australia
2001 - rotated
2004 - pointy A
2007 - thick or thin 7 - thanks Nancy
2008 - gap in swirl
2010 - bubble

Fifty cents
1970 - angled 7
1979 - double bar
1980 - double bar
1994 - wide date
2000 - incused
2004 - pointy A
2010 - rotated

Dollar
2000 - mule
2001 - rotated
2009 - mint marks above roos head and below D of dollar
various - rabbit ears (not a variation - but can't help looking for them)

Hi Mairo

I'd add the 2009 Roos dollar, as you just MIGHT find one with the Canberra Master mintmark stamp on it on the top right (or better still, an added C stamp at the bottom) I've done the positions in red.




Noodling-:

Other standard issues with possible counterstamps are the 1993 Landcare, the 1996 Parkes, and the 2002 Outback dollars
