Additional size-related info: Coin #1 => 40mm, 70.32 grams Coin #2 => 41mm, 70.85 grams (very observant, Bing) Bing => as far as your other observations, I agree that each coin has pros and cons .... ummm, as far as the 5:00 & 8:30 dots observation, I can count a few more dots here and there on both coins if I use my slightly newer eyes (a few more on Coin #2, but probably again due to its slightly larger diameter?) ... thanks for the analysis (man, the more I compare, the more I can't decide which coin I like better!!?) ...

I prefer number 1 by a long way, I think the colouring is nicer and the design stands out more from the coin because of that.

#1 is a better photo but I think #2 is a better coin.

40-41mm and over 70 grams? Wow--that's slightly larger than a US Morgan $1, but over 2.5X the weight! They must be very thick coins. I cannot imagine carrying these for everyday purchases. It's hard to decided between the two, but I suspect the photo of #2 hides some detail--although does the flan look slightly wavy? I don't like the edge divots on #2, so I'd probably select the first coin.

What is the indentation in the center of each coin?
Purely for aesthetics, I like Coin 1. And as the OP asked our matter of taste and preference, my lack of any experience with ancients does not make my opinion any less valid.
Of course, I assume that both coins are genuine.

In the final seconds before I hit the "launch button" I concluded that both coins have pros and cons and both coins seem absolutely wonderful, so .......
=> I fell for the "pretty picture" and chose Coin #1
a) it didn't have the suspect edge dings ...
plus,
b) it just looked so much cooler/hotter to me ...
So I'm lookin' forward to a big fat rootbeer coloured Bronto-coin!!

FYI => I am currently knee-deep in a Canadian paper-money Live Auction (my horse is quickly approaching and I am getting an itchy trigger finger) ... I "should" just walk away ... but I can't!!

yesssssss! I stole this Dominion of Canada bill for $425 (Charlton catalogue book-value estimate => $900!) => Cha-Chinnnggg! ... every now and then, nobody shows-up for the on-line auctions and it's like shootin' fih in a barrel!! ... winner-winner, chicken dinner!! Ummm, just in case you are remotely interested in my other-side collection, here is the dirty ol' bill that I just scored!! (I know it seems ridiculous, but the fact that this bill is an early issue and that it has scalloped borders makes it a total "winner"!!)

I am a number one fan as well, but I think it may have had a slight advantage with the pictures.

Jerry, I know absolutely nothing about these bills, but who the heck is that ugly chick on the bill?

Dominion of Canada. Sounds menacing, in a very friendly and hockey loving way of course. I don't know anything about bills, but grats on the bargain catch!

For eye appeal, I would pick coin number 1. If it's that much of a toss up why not just buy both coins?
