First impressions are that the FBL would show up much more sharp than what they are. I think I have one example in my collection, and the lines are much more clear. I will look tonight and try to post a comparison image.

As for grade, I haven't a clue when it gets into the MS levels, or if this coin is even there, sorry.

Hi Djluster,
I don't see any specific signs of wear in the photos and there does seem to be some luster, so it might be a mint state coin. However, it has a lot of small scuffs and hits that would I think limit it to the bottom end of the MS range, probably no higher than MS-62.
The upper set of bell lines is very faint and the lower row looks incomplete near the center, so I'd say it won't qualify as FBL.
So, what does the slab say?

This looks like an AU-58 slider to me! I hope it isn't graded UNC... It doesn't appear to have full bell lines from those images.

Nice coin Djluster, I like Franklins. I have a few circulated, but this is a good educational thread for me because I have been eyeing a couple I want to buy.

Hmm...I think maybe an AU to MS60 just because of the contact marks.

MS-63 and sorry, but unless the picture is obscuring my view - not fbl. I am in the process of completing a set of Franklins - high grade circulated in the 40s and early 50s and BU in the others. I have a FBL in a 63-D but I am saving that one for the 7070.

ok here you go here is the way overgraded slab. It is a no name slab. I knew when I bought it is was overgraded by looking at the picture but got it at a alright price. I just wnated to see how far off some of these people who claim there coin grade so high.
Ok they said that this coin was a MS68. I new there was no way of that. After reading your guys comments and after I relooked over the coin I would say that the coins is MS60-63. I also thought the company can not even put the Mint mark on the slab.

dj, I do the same thing. I look for the bottom slab companies, take 5 points off automatically, and then look at the photos to see how much else sticks out. From there I make MY price range using the RedBook usually. If they fall into that range, I consider buying. The unfortunate thing is that these people continue to sell this stuff because of people like me buying their slabs.....

In a way I feel guilty due to this, but only until I crack it out and throw the slab away. Then I feel as if I did my duty and removed their grading botch from the marketplace....

Since there are so many contact marks, I'd go MS 60.

MS68? Please, tell me they are using a 100 point scale!
Seriously, from the pictures their appears to be enough wear to keep it in the au-50 range.
