1793 Half Cent:

Obverse is heavily corroded and pic was taken with the surface lightly wet and drying. Reverse is as seen, dry.

Hi,

What exactly are we supposed to be determining about this coin?

Head left, WOW. Could I be so bold as to ask how you stumbled upon it?
Did you know what you had?
Rest in Peace

Hi,

What does everyone think something like this could be sold for on the retail market: w/o any additional cleanings or touch-ups?

Trust me, I'm an Easterner, and only jerseyben seems to have the ability to pull these ancient treasures from the ground like ripe carrots. I think he's made a pact with Satan.

Wow! Extremely tough coin in any grade. I am going to go out on a limb here and say it was an XF, possibly AU coin when it was lost in the ground. Having said that, with the severe corrosion which now plagues your coin, I would net it down to probably a G4 details coin.
IMO, your looking at over $2,000 to the right collector. I would send this to ANACS for sure. Congratulations! That's why I hate you guys on the East coast...you find all the good stuff ;-)

Count me as one of the jealous crowd. That would stay in my collection just to say look what I found.

Anyone care to take a crack at the variety? I can tell by the dot in the middle of Half Cent that it is NOT C-1.

Looks like the reverse that was used for C-2 and C-3, but, boy, the obverse is tough. Any chance of better views of the letters of LIBERTY?
