hi everyone, 3 months ago I started collecting australian error coins, had no interest in it what so ever until I came across the $1/10c mule coin. Since then, my collection has gotten a little bigger, but hope it doesn't stop there. 2 days ago I read up on the 3.5 claw 20c piece, went through some old coins and noticed I had one, great luck, but I came across another coin, another 20 cent coin, the right side of the platypus's arm had 4 fingers under the line and what appears to be 7 fingerips above the line. the first 3 fingertips via to the left, and the other 4 via to the right. Has anyone come across a coin like this? As I'm new to this game, its hard to explain, and the only information I can get from google is the 3.5 claw. Can some one help please? Is this coin valuable?

Hi to CCF!

I will ask the staff to move this post to the Australian varieties section as it will attract muhc more attention there.

For people to give you some decent advice it would be great for you to upload some pictures. Without them it is very hard to understand usually.

There are so many slight variations on the claws that I take the advice of a comprehensive earlier post and look at the lettering to determine if I have a canadian claw coin. The bases of the letters in the word elizabeth are the easiest way to tell. Look at them carefully and the claw coin has slightly indented bases whereas the standard coin has very straight flat bases.

thanks for advice, I have posted 3 pics of coin under another topic name, new to this site, not too sure how to find it. Looked at the face of the coin, and the name Elizabeth is 'BOLD' lettering. coin is a 2008. another user suggested it being ' PMD', looked at the coin again, and the 'extra' claws seem to be sunken in. The claws look too perfect for someone to purposly scratch them in. best look at the coin and make your own judgement if you have the time. Like I said, I'm new to this site and collecting coins, nothing pops up in google search, and the phone calls I made havent helped in any way. Surely someone has come across a coin like this?

This is a 2018 coin, ive seen many marks and dents on 20 cent but this is whole lot different especially with the bottom part.

Appear to be edge knocks on those pictured, for me, reasonably standard to find on fully rimmed edge coins. Due to the magnification of the images they can cause an optical illusion. Just my thoughts.

I agree that it's from another coin hitting the surface.
