Washington Quarter - Strange Error Or PMD

coincollector1628 New Member United States 45 Posts	Posted 10/29/2012 10:23 pm I found this while going through a box of quarters CRHing. It looks like the metal around the edges is deteriorating on the obverse and reverse. Also, it appears to be slightly elongated. Otherwise it doesn't show much wear and has nice luster. Any ideas? coincollector1628 New Member United States 45 Posts	Posted 10/31/2012 12:35 am Wert, they are not so much bubbles, as small canyons it the field of the coin. I don't believe whatever struck it was textured. It looks more like whatever happened "cracked" the surface. Maybe it was extremely cold and struck by a hard force. I'm not sure. It would be interesting to know what caused this sort of damage. Report this Post to the Staff
