I found this while going through a box of quarters CRHing. It looks like the metal around the edges is deteriorating on the obverse and reverse. Also, it appears to be slightly elongated. Otherwise it doesn't show much wear and has nice luster. Any ideas?

Looks like it was pressed in between two pieces of sandpaper. That would explain the elongation and the localized damage. PMD

Hi coincollector1628...I am not sure it is road rase, because when I analyse your coin the bubbles are as high as the lettering...Correct...?

But it is still PMD

Wert, they are not so much bubbles, as small canyons it the field of the coin. I don't believe whatever struck it was textured. It looks more like whatever happened "cracked" the surface. Maybe it was extremely cold and struck by a hard force. I'm not sure. It would be interesting to know what caused this sort of damage.

Looks like road rash IMO but it is a very strange looking coin.
