StackingFool New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 11/17/2012 3:41 pm Hello - I have been collecting ASE BU coins and recently had a chance to complete my collection. When I received the last few coins, I found that several were nicked pretty badly - and thought "tough luck.." But then when I looked at my 1998 it is definitely damaged. It looks like the round was not of uniform thickness, so the press didn't treat it well. Is this a good thing (like a rare coin) or a bad thing (like a damaged coin). I can't believe the thing ever left the mint! QC people! @Buddy weight = 1.00ozt By the way, These came from a well known vendor, and are probably not counterfeit. @FoolsGold - I tried to get an edge view that would show it ... no luck yet. btw - all of this conjecturing is from a newby who knows next to nothing - ready to be told how wrong I am! StackingFool New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 11/18/2012 10:25 pm Thanks for the replies! Buddy - I have edited the post to show weight and added a picture of the obverse. FoolsGold - I am working on better and more pictures, but my good coin camera died. Edge is especially hard to show, will require multiple pics to show uneven thickness etc. I will not give up, as I am really curious as to the cause, and totally ignorant of the details of the minting process, aside from the PR pieces done by mines etc. I have also notified the company that I got the coin from just to see what they say. After all, it passed through the hands of their people a couple of times also! Report this Post to the Staff

I wonder if it got stuck under enough weight to make it uneven. Or, perhaps the rim was just a bit defective. I suppose that could happen. Report this Post to the Staff
