So I have ran into my first ebag problem that couldnt be fixed witb just messaging the seller. And I'm not sure if it is my mistake or his. I made an offer of $28 for a 1889 Morgan, set into a bracelet. Now i. My offer I stated $28 and in the terms box, I put free shipping. When the seller sent me the invoice, he still had the shipoing charge of 9.95 from the original BIN listing. I messaged him about it and he says that the offer he received and accepted does not state.free shipping. I've double checked my offer confirmation email and it does say free shipping. I asked him to check again and he stands by his statement. He has a 100% positive feed back and has been communicating with me civily? so far, so I dont think he.is trying to play me. I'm not sure what to do here. Help? Should I continue trying to explain to him that my offer was for free shipping? Or open a case against, never done that and don't want too if I can avoid it. All the messages and the offer itself was done through ebay. I have not payed for the item yet, but I will if it is a.mistake on my part. I just dont see why mine would say free shipping and his would not. HELP!

This reads as if either there is a clitch in the ebay system or the seller has missed ure condition. Perhaps you might just want to walk away from this purchase. Although that might see the seller leave bad feedback. As a first step contact ebay and explain the problem. I have had 2-3 disputes in 7 years. I won each dispute. ebay generally sides with the buyer.

I personally wouldnt open a case, just explain to him that you had stated with free shipping and arent sure why it didnt go through. If you really dont want to pay the shipping I would just have him cancel the sale and move on

I would contact ebay before you open a case. I would say that the seller has actually not realised you included that in the terms when he accepted the offer and now they dont want to make good on it. Opening a case seems a bit harsh at this stage seeing as the seller has been relatively polite so far. But it might come to that stage, hopefully not though.

GoldenChest, I believe ebay specifies that shipping is not included when making an offer. I am betting the seller overlooked your note specifying that your offer was for a shipped price of $28, and he only saw an offer of $28 + the shipping that he already specified. That may be what he means when he says the offer he received does not state free shipping (even though that's what you wrote in the notes). Hopefully you can come to a resolution without a case. It seems like a simple misunderstanding, and you should be able to cancel the sale if it looks like you won't be able to work something out. I'm sure he'll be willing to work with you as he probably doesn't want to risk getting a ding to his feedback.

Yes, the shipping rate is ALWAYS added on to the offer price. The seller sets the shipping and the price of the item. Sending in an offer doesn't automatically give you free S/H. If you wanted to buy it at the price of $28, you should have offered $18, because it is the same thing! That is what you are really offering the seller because he would have to pay for shipping himself.

Then whats is the terms box for on the make an offer form? I specified free shipping in that box. It even gives shipping as an example.

ebay will side with you on this one. If you put in the terms box "free shipping" and he accepted, and then added additional shipping, he's in violation of the terms he agreed upon and was supposed to have read in full before accepting your offer. Cut and dry.

@ golden.
I make offers all the time and I add the note that my offer is for free shipping. I have not had a problem thankfully. A suggestion. Why dont you ask the seller to send you a link to the offer page so you can see for yourself if it didnt actually show up with your notes and you do the same. That way the seller can see you actually did add the note. That way, if someone is wrong you will both see it. If it is, in fact a glitch, Then you will both see that you were both correct and you guys can split the shipping costs. If that doesn't tickle your fancy then just cancel the order. JMHO

The seller has refused to.send me a copy of the order, nor give me an email to send my copy to him. He states thay he doesn't give emails over ebay. He told me that I need to pay the price he stated or cancek the order. So I guess im.goin to have to get in contact with ebay and see what to do.

Yikes! Definitely a sour seller. I'd steer clear of the coin and report him to ebay!

The only reason to try and contact ebay would be to try and force him into free shipping. At this point theres no reason to deal with him any further and just asking for more problems with the order if you get them to force it through. Just cancel it and move on to another seller

Well I opted to push to get my coin and let the seller know that I would have.to contact ebay if we could not reach a resolution. He replied th at we had best get ebay involved, because he would not be cheated out of his 10$. Now he says that my offer does have a note for free shipping, but that he does not have to acknowledge it because of eBays offer policies.

Even if you win I wouldnt be surprised if he just cancels the sale saying the item is lost or no longer for sale
