I was checking threw some of my nickels this evening with my 2008 RedBook and on page 130 they have the 1943 P listed as $100.00 in VF_20, I was all excited until I noticed that it was only $1.25 in EF-40. I got out the 2007 RedBook to double check, yep only .90 in it.

I may never find a true error coin, but..I have an error coin book now. Does this make it more valuable? Do you think it will become a collectors item? Where should I send it to have it graded or slabbed even.

I guess I will have to start watching ebay for these. If your book has this error, it may be the only one, OR, there may be more like it somewhere else. Maybe every book printed has the error, and finding one without it may be the prize. Hmmmm. Do you have the spiral binder or the regular book. This will help narrow my search online.

LoL same thing happened to me.

The book is also missing 1977 to 1984 for nickels.

Carl is an expert on the errors found in the Red Book, I believe he could write book on the subject. The 2008 book is out and it is only April 2007 there must be no quality control there at all.

personally, I think a perfect Red Book is rarer than one with numerous errors

The values for the 1921 Peace dollar are incorrect, also. It shows VF20 being $125 and EF40 $40. I guess it's time to start buying these in EF grade, too!

Whatever happened to quality control?

I got mine yesterday (thanks, mom!)

It had the silver nickel error mentioned above.

It also has prices for the silver Presidential dollar proofs. But as explained in CW, that's not an error...yet! YYSW

Other than differences in bullion price, has anyone spent time figuring which coins have really moved in price between the 07 and 08 redbooks? I think that would make for an interesting study.

Also, since some ebayers seem to use the RedBook to guide their bidding, I would be interested in the following. Has anyone noticed certain coins that seem to be bid up higher than last week. And can that new price level be directly attributed to the new RedBook price?

My 2008 RedBook isn't missing 1977-1984 nickels, but it has the $100.00 VF 1943-P error.
