mysilveryears Pillar of the Community United States 1890 Posts	Posted 03/31/2013 8:54 pm Howdy folks, This well worn copper was a recent find from a random boxlot, and it's now my oldest USA coin. It's far from great, with a nearly unreadable date, but it does have what seem to be original surfaces. About that date: Is it possible to narrow it down to one specific year, just by studying and comparing the visible features to known coins of this age bracket? There is a ghost of an impression where the date would be, which under the proper lighting appears as either 1794 or 96. Is this coin gradable? Any rough guesstimates as to fmv? I was just trying to link to a pic of this variety, and picked a pretty one that showed the late die state obverse crack. I sure don't have any PCGS membership, and somehow I could see the pic.
