I was wondering if anyone here would even consider using a folder instead of an album to host your type set?
Thanks!

Or an album type thing but with push in cardboard holes (like a Whitman folder but with individual pages like a binder.)

I'm very, very against Folders for either long time storage of any coins. OK for kids, non serious collectors or just short of funds to purhase an Album.
Folders can ruin the reverses of coins due to the glue used to make them.
Folders allow people to touch the face of the coins.
Folders make is so you can not see see the reverses of coins.
Folders allow people to breath, spit, cough, sneeze, etc. on the coins.
People use their thumbs to push the coins in place.
Other than the above and a few other items, Folders are OK.

That's what I was thinking the problems would be.

Not a folder, but one of the nicest 7070 alternative ideas I have seen...

I'm using folders for my circulated Lincoln cents collection, State Quarters, ATB Quarters, and Presidential dollars. The reason is because these are relatively low value coins and I'm too cheap to blow $20-25 for each album to hold these series.

For coins with any intrinsic value like a Type Collection, I'd be against exposing them to the elements as just carl mentioned. If you're frustrated with the constant delays of the Dansco 7070 re-release, see the topic I posted here for what I'm doing as an alternative.

In this day and age of internet piracy, beat sampling, digital media sharing, and Chinese counterfeiting I'm curious why some savy collector has not sent the spec for a new Dansco 7070 to their spec to s manufacturer in China.

A few years ago my boss went to china for a trade show. He said it would have taken him 4 days to walk the entire circuit of vendors. Since we sell power equipment he concentrated on those vendors. They had everything from cheap knock offs to high grade OEM parts will bolt right up units.

The bad rap that Chinese products get is because the US companies that outsource production want to maximize profits and they was to do that is using inferior and lower cost raw materials.

There are a few very highly respected traders on the forums in the custom watch parts and custom complete watch industry based out of Asia. Their parts are high priced to what consumers would expect to pay for "Chinese" parts but the quality of said parts on equal to those of the OEM manufactures parts.

SO the point is if someone really wanted to put out a new album of equal quality to the Dansco 7070 all they had to do was contact a supplier in China who understood the quality level demanded and could crank out a container load for a quarter of the price of the Dansco if they won't step up with a new album.

That is what I am currently looking into. The manufacturer how makes the folders may be able to make an album...but we will have to see...

If anyone else wants to, please take initiative and save me the work
