Found a 1964 silver Roosevelt dime in my wife's change. Pays to be nosey! :-) Anyone else here hind any silver dimes in change lately. I haven't found any in bank rolls recently. Silver Washington quarters are scare too.

Nice find! Silver coins make a different sound when change is dropped into your hand. About 3 or 4 years ago I was at a Post Office and when the guy gave me my change I knew from the sound as he dropped it in my hand I had something. It turned out to be a 1964 silver Washington quarter.

Its been a while since I found some in change I have better luck with my detector finding silver in the ground. Just found a 43 Washington last sunday and last summer when I was in Alaska found another silver quarter 1954.

Joe, You might as well check the 1965 dimes in the wife's purse also via a quick cross sectional view to ensure they do not appear like an Oreo cookie. The last time I checked the value of a 90% silver 1965 Roosie dime, the price was a tad more than the value of a 1964 90% silver Roosie dime! Check out Heritage Auctions at: http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...4&lotNo=6260for a ANACS-slabbed '65 silver dime sold back in 2006. Very Nice find and yes every once in a while I do run across something in my change. Last find was a 64 Washington quarter that was a little rough but its still silver.

Thanks for all of the replies guys! @ Daniels, I wish I had a metal detector! Sounds like alot of fun and I bet there is tons of silver buried. I wish I had time or money to get a detector. Maybe if I get rich I can convince my wife to let me metal detect while on vacation but for now that's a negative!
Good post Mdpmedia. I didn't even realize that there were 65 Roosie Dimes. Very informative. Thanks to the rest too.

Wow cool silvernewbie. I haven't had any luck with silver quarters in change. I think a ton of people pick those from change! Maybe because they have more silver in them than a dime of course. I don't know for sure. I had a friend at work offer me a 1963 silver quarter once because he only collected comic books. He couldn't find the quarter though so I didn't luck out, he had lost it, or so he says lol.

It seems like finding dimes in change is the easiest. You think it's probably due to the coin and date being small and harder to read.
