I get that , but why throw the counterfeit card into the mix. It is not justified. There are no reports of said bar being faked.
I don`t like the word being thrown around with a sale that I am associated with. Kind of uncool.
It is one thing to ask if I am sure it is the real deal.
It is another to say that I should hold the purchase money from the auction as it could be discovered that the bar is a fake made in China.....that is not just asking a question. That is uncalled for.

Comparing my bar to an 1893s ( which has a tried and true history of being counterfeited ) Is not a fair comparison.
That is all I was trying to say.
Where in anything I have presented does the word counterfeit merit being used.
If I used the word publicly in reference to one valuable item that you have up for auction, then you may understand.

That bar is the real deal.
The pictures have been authenticated by several experienced collectors and the bar has been accepted within the community. Upon arrival, it will likely be further studied through micrometer measurements and font sizing/placement as compared to known genuine bars with assurance of seven day return policy offered by the seller.
Again, if you are a collector of Engelhard and study these pictures for basic physical characteristics there is little doubt about its legitimacy.
Given what this bar actually represents, it is a very valid concern to question authenticity. However, anything beyond mention of basic genuine concern should be supported by study and constructive discussion which I am sure is welcome to be had right here on this thread.

Wow, does anyone else find his response to my thought a little insane? I never accused you of any kind of fraud just meant with something this valuable I would personally double check everything. The fact that you personally have no history here and another new member is vouching for the bar would make me very leery of this deal.

Quote: I get that , but why throw the counterfeit card into the mix. It is not justified. It was a question, thats the point of questions to get answers. If you dont want to go through the diagnostics thats fine but the high horse above reproach attitude is very off putting. Ironically your reaction to his question raises a lot more red flags from a behavioral standpoint than his question could have ever done. Being overly defensive over a simple question does make it seem like you know you have your hand in the cookie jar and are doing your best to prevent from getting caught. Its very unusual to have such a strong reaction to something that was clearly just a simple question.

Dear Basebal and Silver Newbie
Did I get defensive about my bar Yes I did. Do I know dolomite in person , No I do not But we have discussed things on CU I already gave all of the relevant info to the bar on the earlier post. its frustrating that there will always be naysayers. I am a good man , I live a good life , I volunteer and always try my best to be honest. Now that you have questioned my integrity , I will step up and invite the buyer of the bar to come to my home to pay for it in cash and examine it in person.
Questioning someones honesty can make someone upset. Is it my fault that you have miss-interpreted the root of my reaction No But hey Its ok I get it Cheers

I have no need to inspect the bar in person Chris. You are welcome to just mail it to me now that I have fully funded the auction win.
Hopefully this ends this ridiculous discussion of unsuspecting buyer getting ripped off by counterfeit bar as I can do without your concern.
If you would also be so good as to include any original documents from the Canadian auction from which you sourced the bar this would be exceedingly beneficial for collector provenance. Welcome to black out/copy any sensitive information.
Glad we are done here.

You both seemed to miss the point that what resulted from the question was about the treatment of others not the bar itself. I personally couldnt care less about the bar itself, but I will say something if someone gets belittled for asking a simple question.

This is a question quoted "Are you absolutely certain that it is not counterfeit?" But that was not the whole paragraph....
The following was what was actually written , It is clearly more than just a question according to english class in high school...did you attend one.... it is a statement , not only that , it is one that has implications specifically saying "it's kind of like and 1893s , most people I know won't touch one un slabbed due to the shear number of counterfeits" When in actuality it is nothing like that. It's unfair that you would throw that thought out onto my sale as I have given you no reason and done you no wrong.
Like I said ,
Best of luck in life. May many treasures befall you all And congrats to the buyer.
THE ORIGINAL STATEMENT THAT STARTED THE DOWNWARDS SPIRAL THAT WAS ONCE A GOOD THREAD
"Are you absolutely certain that it is not counterfeit? It's kind of like an 1893 S, most of the people I know won't touch one un slabbed do to the shear number of counterfeits. Now with bars I have no idea who could authenticate it for you but I would be careful not to spend the profit to fast just in case it is a chinese counterfeit."

MOVE ON...
You are coming off very poorly, taking so much offense to a basic question is very weird.
Can't agree with baseball more, just wish I could take back the time I have spent reading and replying to this thread. GL on your bar and I mean that.

I can see that everything thats been said has been lost on you. If you want to play the educational degree game with comments like "according to english class in high school...did you attend one....", lets play it I guarantee youll lose.
Let me break it down for you. His first question was just that a question. It was followed by an example that was used for comparative purposes that gave insight to his question. That was then followed by a statement which supports the fact he was just asking a simple question he wanted to know the answer too and finished with what should have been taken as a friendly piece of advice.
I guess my high school must have been better since we learned all that. The snide comments and overly defensive responses are just confirming the likely hood that something isn't on the up and up here. Real fake or otherwise all youre doing is assuring a lot of people here wont touch your listings with a 10 foot poll with this kind of behavior.
