The V was used because of Churchills famous V for victory sign and also to denote the denomination. Instead of using denticles around the edge, a Morse Code message which reads . As long as you keep it historical, and don't make it political, I think you are in the clear. I, for one, don't like it at all when people try to suppress anything related to Nazi Germany, for fear of offending someone. I think that would be doing a disservice to all the people who died during the holocaust, as well as those who survived, not to mention all those who died on the battlefields.
