Hello. Can you tell me something about this shield error? Also, I see die crack at 9 hour (at reverse). This variety is known? Will add any value? I paid almost 30$ for this example. Thank you for help.

The error at 12:00 is a die crack, also. I believe it would be considered a Retained Cud with the crack reaching from rim to rim with surface displacement.

Yes it is a Retained Cud. Any extra value? Probably not.

a little extra value - some folks do collect Cuds on Indians. 1865 is a common year for them, and the shield is a common location for them too.

Yep Retained Cud, nice find and quite collectible in it's own right. I'll check the Cud book when I get home to see if there is a premium listed for this one.

It is listed in Thurman & Margolis' Cud book as IC-1865-9RA Ret nice find!
