Purple Toning On American Silver Eagle / ASE : Helps Or Hurts The Value?

Superhal Valued Member United States 315 Posts	Posted 10/03/2013 02:27 am On the front, it looks like a postage stamp was placed on the coin and the toning occurred around the stamp, leaving the middle silver. On the back, theres a small patch of purple over the "dollar". Is this a good thing or bad thing? Report this Post to the Staff

If you're talking to a sensical person who sees ASE as bullion, then no, absolutely not. It depends on the buyer. Even I would try to haggle it down a bit because of the perceived loss of desirability. Really though, it's just bullion. Report this Post to the Staff
